After a bye in the first round of District 14 Class 1A post season play, the Paton-Churdan Rockets won their first game, 59-38, over the Guthrie Center Tigers Feb. 18 in Manning.
The Rockets dominated, taking the lead early and not looking back. The score was 11-3 after one quarter, 22-13 at halftime, and 39-23 after three quarters.
Junior Chase Juergensen led the Rockets in scoring with 18 points, including four 3-point baskets. Sophomore Joe Towers had 15 points and was nine of nine at the free throw line. Senior Noah Juergensen, usually the Rockets’ lead scorer, had 14 points. He led in rebounds with seven. Sophomores Jake Berns and Charlie Minnehan each had six points.
The Rockets will return to Manning to play Exira/EH-K Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
